Earlier in the day, Almarai announced its plan "to issue a debut local SR-denominated Sukuk under a Sukuk Programme fully compatible with Islamic Shariah, as per the approval of the Extraordinary General Assembly (EGA) meeting held on November 19th 2011." Almarai added: "Subject to market conditions, Almarai will heold several meeting during this week with interested investors. Shareholders will be updated with any progress on this regard. Almarai has mandated HSBC to act as Programme Arranger." Analysts expect a rather muted week with low foreign investment volumes as the U. S. exchanges will be off on Monday, February 20th, on the occasion of President's Day.
