Bangladesh scraps sale to Saudi prince
2008-03-11 - AME Info | Saudi Arabia | Latest News - Bangladesh has shelved a deal to sell a state-run bank for $330m to a Saudi prince, reported Reuters. Prince Bandar Bin Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud had signed the deal with the Privatisation Commission of Bangladesh in 2006 to buy a 67% stake in Rupali Bank Ltd, the smallest of the country's four state-run commercial banks. But the bank has decided to cancel the deal with the prince, saying he did not pay the money in accordance with the conditions that were agreed upon. The state privatisation commission will issue a fresh tender for bids for the stake as soon as possible.
