Market breadth returned into positive territory as 117 shares advanced and 22 declined. Market bellwether Saudi Basic Industries Corporation or Sabic advanced 0.83% to reach SR90.75. The TASI' year-to-date gain improved today to 5.14%, but this level still is far below the gauge's first quarter gain of 22.09%. Paul Gamble, Chief Economist at Jadwa Research said in today's published Saudi Chartbook, that "Heightened uncertainty about prospects for the Eurozone and disappointing global economic data has caused an intensification of risk aversion, triggering inflows into assets considered safe havens, which are primarily dollar- and yen-denominated."
