Saudi Arabia's SR23bn train network project to be finished in 7 years
2012-02-28 - AMEinfo.com | Saudi Arabia | Latest News - Saudi Arabia: The Mayor of the Saudi holy city of Makkah has said all technical and financial studies of the city's SR23bn fast train network project have been completed, Saudi Gazette has reported. The mayoralty will soon sign the contract for its first phase, Dr Osama Al-Bar said. The project will be partially financed by the King Abdullah Project for Makkah Development, while the other parts of the project will be in partnership with the private sector, he said. The rail network has four lines, each one is 183km long, of which 70km will be underground, he added. "There are eighty eight railway stations for all three phases of the project. The first and second phases which consist of 120km will be implemented in seven years," Al-Barr noted.
