Saudi commerce Ministry steps in to restrain cement price
2012-01-08 - AMEinfo.com | Saudi Arabia | Latest News - Saudi Arabia: The Saudi ministry of commerce and industry has said at least 14 people involved in cement price fixing have been arrested in the western region following raids conducted on Thursday by ministry inspection teams, Arab News has reported. The ministry has instructed all its branches across the kingdom to further intensify market monitoring in its bid to curb dramatic increases in cement prices. Strict monitoring of cement prices would continue at all markets coming under the jurisdiction of ministry branches all over the country, according to a source at the ministry. "Prices have been stable at almost all sales outlets in the city following the raid. Now the price per cement bag does not exceed SR15," he said.
