2008-02-03 - Saudi Gazette - total of 5, 000 National Guard soldiers are supporting security forces guarding oil facilities and foreign consulates in the Eastern Province, said Prince Mishari bin Saud Bin Abd al-Aziz, undersecretary at the National Guard in the Eastern Sector. Prince Mishari said that while that Ministry of Interior is solely responsible for security, the National Guard, just like the other Saudi security divisions, have a supportive role in protecting the country's vital interests and strategic facilities.
